AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA) AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 145 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS AS
TO THE ESTABLISH- NT OF A FIRE DE-
PARTMENT)
E_PARTMENT, THE BUILDING OF HOUSES,
AND THE CONDUCT OF CERTAIN BUSINESS
AND OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Section 15 of Ordinance No. 145 be, an the
same i.s hereby amended to read as follows:
15. UNDERGROUND METAL TANKS: No person shall be issued a
perrdt for the sto:°ege or
keeping for sale or use of any volatile, inflami��a e liquid
exceeding ten ( 10) gallons in quantity excerA in appl'oved
metal tanks in fireproof enclosures or. underground . Such
fireproof enclosures shall be provided with floor bulkheads
sufficient to contain the contents of the tank and may be used
only for quantities not exceeding two hundred ( 200) gallons.
Underground metal tanks shallbe eouipped with ventilating
pipes and air-tight filling connections and so arranged that
the liquid is drawn off by pumps. All such inst&llations shall
receive final approval from the Fire Chief.
Section 2. That the first para ;rnph of Section 20 of Ordinance
No. 145 be , and the same is hereby amended by add-
ing thereto , the following:
"Provided, however, that nothing contained in Section 20 of
this ordinance shall he construed to affect the establishment
and operation of dry cleaning establishments using a cleaning
fluid with a flash point of 100 or higher in buildings of
ordinary construction where the space occupied by such opera-
tions has ceilings and partitions of not less than one (1)
hour' s fire resistive construction , as specified by National.
Board of Fire Underwriter' s regulations.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.

Ordinance No. 577 entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO, 14.5 OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS AS
TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE BUILDING OF
HOUSES, AND THE CONDUCT OF CERTAIN BUSINESS AND OTHER PUR_
POSES", having been passed and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me
in three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, one
of which was at the door of the City Hall in said City on
the 6th day of June, A. D., 1940, and that said Ordinance
remained posted for a period of at least thirty days in ac-
cordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the
said City of Miami Beach.
