AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING LIVE POULTRY
MARKETS AND THE SLAUGHTERING OF POULTRY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA; PROVIDING THAT
THIS ORDINANCE SHALL NOT AFFECT DULY
LICENSED MARKETS OR STORES WHICH WERE
ENGAGED IN THE SLAUGHTER OR SALE OF LIVE
POULTRY ON OCTOBER 22, 1941; DECLARING
THIS ORDINANCE TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpora-
tion to manage, conduct or operate a market or store for
the sale of live poultry within the corporate limits of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida.
SECTION 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpora-
tion to kill or slaughter poultry within the corporate
limits of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
SECTION 3. That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be
punished by a fine of not more than $100.00, or by imprisonment not
exceeding 30 (thirty) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment*
SECTION 4. That each day of the continuance of the violation of
Section 1 hereof, shall constitute a separate offense.
SECTION 5. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That nothing herein contained shall affect duly licensed
markets or stores which were engaged in the slaughter or
sale of live poultry on October 22, 1941.
SECTION 7. That the health and welfare of the City is in peril, and
that this Ordinance be and the same is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure,

MARKETS OR STORES WHICH WERE ENGAGED IN THE SLAUGHTER OR
SALE OF LIVE POULTRY ON OCTOBER 22, 1941; DECLARING THIS-
ORDINANCE TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE" , havin been passed
and adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has been posted. by me in three conspicuous places
in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door of
the City Hall in said City on the 23rd day of October, A. D. ,
1941, and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period
of at least thirty days in accordance with the requirements
of the City Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
