SUBJECT: CIP Monthly Construction Projects Update
Below please find the monthly update for active City of Miami Beach construction projects under
the purview of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects.
Allison Park Renovation
Scope: Create an ADA park with an accessible route from the play area and beach area
to the existing.restrooms building.
Status: Construction began December 2016. Project is 90% complete as per the current
contract. Per Commission direction, the engineered wood fiber will be replaced with a
rubberized surface. The change order for additional scope and time, was approved at the
July 26, 2017 Commission meeting. Project is scheduled for completion September 2017.
Beach Lifeguard Towers Replacement
Scope: Construction of 35 lifeguard towers.
Status: Construction began March 2015. Fifteen towers have been completed and placed
at their permanent location. Seven more towers are in construction and are scheduled for
completion by September 2017. A purchase order for 7 additional towers, scheduled for
completion in January 2018, has been issued.
Biscayne Beach Relocation of Fire Hydrants
Scope: Relocation of eight (8) fire hydrants and connection to the existing water main at
various locations within Biscayne Beach Neighborhood to gain 13 additional car parking
spaces and 4 additional motorcycle/scooter spaces.
Status: The construction work will commence on Monday, July 31, 2017.
Biscayne Point Island Entry
Scope: Beautification project of the neighborhood entryway to Biscayne Point Island.
Status: Concrete curbs and sidewalks have been completed. Landscaping and
guardhouse renovation has commenced. Project is 47% complete overall and scheduled
for completion October 2017.
Central Bayshore South Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements bounded by 34th St. to the north, Pine Tree Dr. to
the east, 28 St. to the south and Prairie Ave to the west and Meridian Ave from 28 St. to
Dade Blvd.
Status: Water main installation is ongoing and 85% complete. Drainage design is
currently on hold at a 60%, waiting for the City's re-evaluation of the impact of the
proposed road elevations on the neighborhood homes.
Flamingo Park Restroom Facility
Scope: Demolition of existing restroom building and construction of a new restroom/office
building.
Status: Construction began June 2016. Project is complete and certificate of occupancy
was obtained July 26, 2017.
Fleet Management Seawall
Scope: Complete design and total replacement of approximately 200 feet of seawall to
protect upland structures
Status: Construction began late June 2017; as an emergency repair. In the process of
finalizing the DERM permit. Anticipated completion date is November 2017.
Lower North Bay Road
Scope: Installation of decorative street lighting system along Lower North Bay Road
Status: Commission approved BID award on July 26, 2017.
Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph. 2 -Section 1 (Beachwalk)
Scope: Construction of an on-grade pedestrian walkway encompassing eleven (11) City
blocks or approximately 134,500 square feet from 53 St to 64 St.
Status: Notice to Proceed #2 was issued July 20, 2017. Construction began July 24,
2017.
Muss Park Pavilion
Scope: Demolition of the existing pavilion and the construction of a new pavilion. The new
pavilion will be LEED Gold certified.
Status: Construction began February 2017. Project is 40% complete and scheduled for
completion September 2017.
Muss Park Seawall
Scope: Design and total replacement of 323 linear feet of seawall including 67 linear feet
of living shoreline.
Status: Notice to proceed issued June 2017. Construction began July 17, 2017.
Palm & Hibiscus Island Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on Palm and Hibiscus Islands.
Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 50% complete and scheduled for
completion November 2017.
South Pointe Park Remediation -Water Feature
Scope: Construction of 4 new water features, landscaping, and plaza.
Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 92% complete and scheduled for
completion August 2017.
Stormwater Pump Station at 19 Street
Scope: Installation of a stormwater pump station, including an emergency generator and
seawall reconstruction along Collins canal.
Status: Currently design is at 30%. Anticipated construction to begin January 2018.
Sunset Islands 3 & 4 Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Sunset Islands 3 & 4 -Neighborhood improvement.
Status: Construction began June 2015. Project is 87% complete and scheduled for
completion late summer 2017.
Venetian Islands Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on San Marino, Dilido and Rivo Alto Islands.
Status: Construction began May 2013. Project is 80% complete and scheduled for
completion January 2018.
West Avenue Phase II Improvements North of 14 Street
Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements north of 14th Street to Lincoln Lane.
Status: Contract was awarded March 22, 2017. Contract has been fully executed.
Anticipated issuance of Notice to Proceed #1 is July 31, 2017.
----WestAvenue-l~hase II-Improvements Southof-14-Street --------------------------
Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements south of 14th Street to 5th Street.
Status: Contract was awarded March 22, 2017. Contract has been fully executed.
Anticipated issuance of Notice to Proceed #1 is July 31, 2017.
