Resolution 498 pi #,N v zi' r `i° v�. $ r' ,"'` '''AV' t a i. �". `' �swz` RESOLUTION N0. 498 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING AN ELECTION AT uHICH THERE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO A VOTE THE MATTER OF THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA. WHERRAS, the City Coundil of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, deems it advisable to issue bonds of said City in the amounts and for the municipal purposes set forth in the election notice provided by this Resolution; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1 : That subject to the authorization by the duly registered and qualified voters of said City who are owners of and pay taxes on real or personal property within said City, participating in an election which is hereby called and which shall be held in the City Hall of said City on the 19th day of February, A.D. 1924, the negotiable coupon bonds of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, shall be issued in the amounts and for the several purposes set forth in the election notice provided by this resolution. Section 2 : That a special election is hereby called and directed to be held at the City Hall in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from eight o 'clock A. Z. until sundown on the 19th day of February, A.D. 1924, for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the duly registered and qualified voters of said City, who are owners of and pay taxes on real or personal property within said City, the eight separate questions as to whether the bonds mentioned in each separate question shall be authorized, which eight questions are set forth in the election notice provided by this Resolution. Section 3 : That the City Clerk, who is also Supervisor of Registration, open the registration books of said City for said election from ten o 'clock A.M. until five o' clock P.M. each day, Sunday excepted, from this data until February Qlth, 1924, �+ ,;� for the purpose of registering those iersons who are qualified ka to register for such election. Section 4 : That M. H. Farr, Geo. 1. Babbitt, and J. 2. Kelly be and they are hereby appointed inspectors, and J. H. Bowlin is hereby appointed clerk for the purpose of holding and conducting said election at the time and place aforesaid, which names the City Clerk shall certify to the Mayor. Section 5 : That said inspectors and clerk shall certify the result of said election to said City Council within five days after the holding of said election. Section 6 : That thirty days ' notice of said election be given by the Mayor of said City by posting the notice here- inafter provided for once each week for thirty days in three conspicuous places in said City of Miami Beach, Florida; at the City Hall, Post Office, and at Hardie's Casino, and by publish- ing the same once each week for thirty days in the Miami News Metropolis, a newspaper published in the City of Miami , Florida, and of general circulation in the said City of Miami Beach. Section 7 : That said notice of election shall be in substantially the following form: "NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election has been called by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and will be held at the City Hall in said City on the 19th day of February, A. D. 1924, at which there will be submitted to the duly registered and qualified voters of said City, who are own- ; era of and pay taxes on real or personal property within said City, the following questions : (a) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 0_00,000 for the purpose of extending and developing its water works system? (b) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 0.4,000 for the purpose of erecting a bridge within the said City over Collins Canal, between the East and West lines of Meridian Avenue, as shown on a plat recorded in Plat Book 6, at Page 26, of the Public 2 - • • Records of Dade County, Florida, extended North across said Collins Canal? (c) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 450,000 for the purpose of paying the City's share of the cost of constructing sani- tary sewers? (d) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 420, 000 for the purpose of paying the City's share of the cost of constructing storm sewers? (e) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of ;; 40,000 for the erection of a fire station, equipping and furnishing the same with a fire engine and other fire-fighting apparatus and acquiring a site therefor and installation of a fire alarm system? (f) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of $25,000 for the purpose of developing and improving its public parks? (g) Shall the City of Miami Beach,Flori da, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of $18,000 for the purpose of constructing a bulkhead along the North side of Collins Canal, a waterway within said City, from the Alton Road Bridge Easterly to the West Golf Course Bridge, to prevent the caving of the North side of Collins Canal and injury to Dade Boulevard? (h) Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 440,000 for the purpose of paving its streets? Inspectors and a Clerk have been appointed to conduct said election at said time and place. The registration books will be open from ten o'clock A.M. to five o 'clock F.M. every day, Sunday excepted, from this date until February ilth, 1924, for the purpose of registering per- k sons qualified to register for such elections (Signed) Louis F. Section 8 : That the form of ballot to be used at said election shall be in substantially the following form: CITY OF UTAMT BEACH, FLORIDA, BOND ELECTION. February 19th, 1924. Mark a cross (x) before your choice : (Here shall be inserted each of the propositions set forth in the election notice contained and provided for in this Resolution, and at the end of each proposition as set forth there shall be printed a short dotted line ( ) followed by the word "Yes", and a short dotted line ( ) f ollbwed by the word "No". ) Section 9 : This Resolution shall be effective im- mediately upon its passage and adoption.
