SUBJECT: Motion by the LGBTQ Advisory Committee
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform the Mayor and the Commission of a
motion made by the LGBTQ Advisory Committee at their most recent meeting.
BACKGROUND:
The committee received a presentation from Carolina Jones regarding the Sabrina Cohen
Foundation and the proposed adaptive facility. The lot at 53 Street and Collins Avenue is the
proposed location to build the facility. Funds for the projects are being provided by the Sabrina
Cohen Foundation and they will be operating the facility, but the facility will be owned by the City.
The LGBTQ Advisory Committee made the following motion in support of the adaptive center.
MOTION: To encourage the City Commission to support a beach facility that is ADA and special
needs compliant by dedicating and providing storage space for adaptive equipment to provide
access to the beach.
