Resolution 695 ll � 3 \711101 ,4000 RESOLUTION NO. 695 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OP MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO B }LLD,,ON DECEMBER 16, 1924. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: section 1. That for the purpose of holding and conduct- ing the general election of the City of Beach, Florida, on Lecember 16 , 1924, John L. Crist, xose Weiss and r. H. Backus be and they are hereby appointed inspectors and lithel Stephenson is hereby appointed clerk, which names the City Clerk shall certify to the Mayor. Section 2. That said general election be held at any convenient place at the City Aall in the city of Miami beach, Florida. section 3. That said election shall be held from 8 o' clock A. M. until sundown on yecember 16, 1924, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and five city Councilmen, all of Duh ich persons shall hold office for the term of two years, and/or until their successors are re ;ularly elected and qualified, except that the two councilmen who shall receive the highest number of votes at such election shall hold office for the term of lour years and or until their successors are regularly elected and qualified. section 4. That thirty days notice of said election shall be given by the Mayor of said City by posting the notice herein- after provided for thirty days in three conspicuous places in the City of idiami beach, to-wit, at the city Hall, at the Post Office and atiardie' s Casino , and shall be published once a week for a period of thirty days next preceding such election in the Miami .wily hews and Metropolis, a newspaper published ti in the city of Miami, . lorida, no newspaper being published in the city of Miami beach. 411 section 5. That said inspectors and clerk shall certify the result of said election to said city council immediately after the holding of said election. section 6. what said notice of election shall be in sub- stantially the following form: "Notice is given that a general election will be held at the city Hall in the city of Miami beach, rlorida, from 8 o ' clock A. M. , until sundown on December 16, 1924, for the purpose of electing the following~ officers of said City: One person to fill the office of Mayor, rive persons as members of the City council, the two receiving the highest number of votes as Uouncil.men to hold office for the term of four years. All other officers so elected shall hold office for the term of two years. John L. Grist, nose +veiss and r. H. isackus have been appointed inspectors and Ethel Stephenson has been ap- pointed ulerk for the purpose of holding and conducting said election at said time and place. J.'he registration books of said city will be open for the purpose of registering any person qualified to vote at such election nntil December 5, 1924. Persons properly registered who have paid their 1922 and 1923 poll taxes on or before November 29, 1924, will be qualified to vote in said election. LOUIS F. SNEDIGAR, Mayor. aection 7.
