Ordinance 793 ORDINANCE NO. 793 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE NO. 789 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL CLASSI- FICATIONS OF POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH". BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 789 of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is here- by amended to read as follows: "Section 5. The City Manager is authorized to approve compensation in excess of the maximums prescribed in Section 1 of this Ordinance for those employees who are assigned duties and re- sponsibilities clearly above and beyond the normal scope of their positions. Such excesses shall be made only upon recommendation of the Department Head involved and the Personnel Direc- tor, and shall in no case exceed twenty (20) per cent of the maximums prescribed for the classifi- cation involved. " SECTION 2: That this ordinance shall go into effect imme•- diatel_y upon its passage and posting as required by law. PASSED and ADOPTED this 2nd day of January, A.
