AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING UPON THE SIDEWALKS AND
STREETS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
WITHIN FIVE HUNDRED FEET FROM ANY ENTRANCE OF
• ANY RACETRACK, OR OTHER PLACE OF AMUSEMENT THE
SELLING OR OFFERING FOR SALE OF PREDICTIONS OR
FORECASTS OF THE OUTCOME OF HORSE RACES, DOG
RACES, OR JAI ALAI GAMES, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY
FOR TLE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. No person, firm or corporation shall, upon any street or
sidewalk in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, within five
hundred (500) feet from any entrance of any racetrack, or other place
of out-door amusement or entertainment, engage in, carry on, or manage
the business of displaying, selling or ,offering for sale, any sheets,
cards, circulars, pamphlets, tip-sheets or paper, the principal purpose
of which is to predict or forecast the outcome of horse races, dog
races, or jai alai games.
SECTION 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof
shall be fined, not less than One Hundred 0100.00) Dollars nor more
than Five Hundred (; 500.00) Dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty
days, or both.
SECTION 3. That all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict here-
with be and the same are hereby repealed.
VECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
becoming a law.

DRED FEET FROM ANY ENTRANCE OF ANY RACETRACK, OR OTHER PLACE OF
AMUSEMENT, THE SELLING OR OFFERING FOR SALE OF PREDICTIONS OR
FORECASTS OF THE OUTCOME OF HORSE RACES, DOG RACES, OR JAI ALAI
GAMES, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDI-
NANCE", having been passed and adopted by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in three
conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, one of
which was at the door of the City Hall in said City on the 6th
day of November, A. D. , 1947, and that said Ordinance remained
posted for a period of at least thirty days in accordance with
the requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami
Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, on
this the 8th day of December, A. D. , 1947.
