AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 592
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE "MIAMI BEACH BUILDING
CODE".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 2.04.01. 51 of Ordinance No. 592 of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follows:
"2.04.01.51 MARQUEE: means a projection from a
building for the protection of a main entrance
to public buildings, theatres, hotels, large de-
partment stores and similar buildings of an essentially
public nature, supported entirely from above by the
buildings to which they are attached and not less than
ten (10) feet clear above the grade of any public side-
walk below."
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.04.01. 71 MARQUEE: means a projection from a
building for the protection of a main entrance to
a theatre, supported entirely from above by the
building to which it is attached and not less than
ten (10) feet above the grade of any public side-
walk below."
SECTION 2: That Section 7.31.03.01.01.01 of Ordinance No. 592 of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follows:
"7.31.03.01.01.01 MARQUEES: Marquees may extend over
apublic sidewalk in connection with entrances to
public buildings, theatres, hotels, large department
stores and similar structures of an essentially -pub-
lic nature; provided that they shall be constructed
entirely of incombustible materials, securely supported
from the structure and properly drained."
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.31.03 .01.01.01 MARQUEES: Marquees may extend
over a public sidewalk in connection with entrances
to theatres; provided that they shall be constructed
entirely of incombustible materials, securely sup-
ported from the structure and properly drained."
SECTION_a: That the welfare of the City is in peril and the passage
of this ordinance is hereby declared to be necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public peace and safety,
and the three readings of this ordinance shall be had in one session
and this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its passage.

907, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 592 OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE
"MIAMI BEACH BUILDING CODE" , having been passed and adopted
by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has
been posted by me in three conspicuous places in the City of
Miami Beach, one of which was at the door of the City Hall
in said City on the 8th day of December, A. D. 1949, and
that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City
Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand end
affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
on this the 11th day of January, A. D. 1950.
