Ordinance 1077 ORDINANCE NO. 1077 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21 OF ORDINANCE NO . 789 ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL CLASSIFICATIONS OF POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH" . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1 : That Section 21 of Ordinance No . 789 of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows : "Section 21: Notwithstanding any of the provisions, schedules, rates or items relating to maximum compensation as set forth in Section 1 of this ordinance, there shall be paid on and after October 1, 1953, as additional cost of living compensation to each employee in the classified service, other than emergency and casual employees and those employees who now are or who hereafter become members of the Police and Fire- men ' s Pension System created by Chapter 23414, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1945, and who are, therefore benefited by or affected by Chapter 29286, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1953, which amended said Chapter 23414, additional wages or salary based upon the following provisions : a. There shall be added to the computed pay for each employee on a monthly rate, Twenty-two and 50/100 (522.50) Dollars for each half month period, less One and 80/100 ($1 .80) Dollars for each normal work day in that period for which no compensation is paid. b . There shall be added to the computed pay for each employee on a weekly rate Ten and 40/100 ($10.40) Dollars for each weekly period, less One and 80/100 ($1 .80) Dollars for each normal work day in that period for which no compensation is paid. c . There shall be added to the computed pay for each employee on an hourly rate, Ten and 40/100 ($10.40) Dollars for each weekly period, less Twenty-three cents (230 ) for each hour less than Forty-five (45) for which compensation is paid in that week. The additional compensation provided for in this section shall be applicable to all payments of salary and wages paid for service rendered on and after Octobr 1st, 1953" . "And there shall be paid on and after October 1, 1953, as additional cost of living compensation to each employee in the classified service who now is or hereafter becomes a member of the Police and Firemen ' s Pension System created by Chapter 23414, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1945, and who are therefore benefited by or affected by Chapter 29286, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1953, which amended said Chapter 23414, additional wages or salary based upon the following provisions : -1- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA "a. There shall be added to the computed pay for each employee on a monthly rate, Seventeen and 50/100 ($17 .50) Dollars for each half month period, less One and 4O/100 ($1 .40) Dollars for each normal work day in that period for which no compensation is paid. b . There shall be added to the computed pay for each employee on a weekly rate Eight Dollars and Ten Cents ($8 .10) for each weekly period, less One Dollar and Forty Cents ($1 .40) for each normal work day in that period for which no compensation is paid. c . There shall be added to the computed pay for each employee on an hourly rate, Eight Dollars and Ten Cents ($8.10 ) for eas4nfgekly period, less Seventeen and One-half ($175Jfor each hour less than Forty- five (45) for which compensation is paid in that week. The additional compensation provided for in this section shall be applicable to all payments of salary and wages paid for service rendered on and after October 1st, 1953 . " SECTION 2: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its passage and posting as required by law. PASSED and ADOPTED this 2ndbf September, A.D. 1953. D. 1953, and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
