Ordinance 1161 ORDINANCE NO. 1161
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF
ORDINANCE NO. 592, COMMONLY KNOWN
AS THE "MIAMI BEACH BUILDING CODE"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 : That Section 3.06 .02 of Section 2 of
Ordinance No . 592 of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, be and, the same is hereby amended to
read as follows :
"Section 3 .06 .02: The height of Type I
buildings shall be
limited as specified under Groups of Oc-
cupancy in Part V and in no case shall
exceed one hundred and sixty (160) feet,
in which height there shall be not more
than fourteen (14 ) stories . Towers,
spires and steeples, when not used for
habitation, storage, or business, and
bulkheads not exceeding in combined area,
thirty (30 ) percent of the roof area of
the building, may extend above the allowed
height not to exceed fifty (50) feet . "
SECTION 2: That Section 5.17 .02 of Section 2 of
Ordinance No . 592 of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows :
"Section 5 .17.02:
Maximum Fire Area
Type Height Stories Building Fronting On
1 Sfreet 2 Streets 3 Streets
I 160 14 Not Limited Hereby
II 40 3 10,000 12,500 15,000
NOTE: For the purpose of determining allowable
floor areas and/or exit arrangement, an
alley through an entire block and not less than
twenty (20) feet wide may be considered as a
street . "
SECTION 3: All ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith be and the same are
hereby repealed .
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall go into effect
immediately upon its passage and
posting as required by law.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 6th day of April
A.D. 1955 .

I, C. W. Tomlinson, City Clerk in and for the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, do hereby certify that Ordinance
No. 1161, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF
ORDINANCE NO. 592, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE 'MIAMI BEACH BUILDING
CODE", having been passed and adopted by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in
three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, one of
which was at the door of the City Hall in said City on the
6th day of April, 1955, and that said Ordinance remained posted
for a period of at least thirty days in accordance with the
requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami
Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
on this the 6th day of April, A. D. 1955.
