AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, 1950, BY ADDING
THERETO A NEW SECTION TO BE
NUMBERED SECTION 8.8.2.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 8 of "The Code of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, 1950" be and
the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new
Section numbered 8.8.2 and reading as follows:
"SECTION 8.8.2: It shall be unlawful for
any person on the day of
any municipal election to solicit votes, or
approach any elector in an attempt to solicit
votes, at any polling place or on any public
street, avenue, walk or other public way; or
to distribute or cause to be distributed with-
in the City of Miami Beach, on the day of such
election, any political cards, handbills, leaf-
lets, pamphlets or other literature designed,
or intended, to advocate or to oppose the nomi-
nation or election of any candidate; provided,
however, that the transportation of an elector
to a polling place shall not be deemed a viola-
tion of this ordinance.
SECTION 2: Any person violating the provisions of
this ordinance shall, upon conviction
thereof, be punished as provided by Section 1.8 of -"The
Code of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, 1950".
SECTION 3: That all ordinances and parts of ordi-
nances in conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall go into effect
immediately upon its passage and posting
as required by law.

1183, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 OF THE CODE OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, 1950, BY ADDING THERETO A
NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED SECTION 8.8.2f", having bee passed
and adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has been posted by me in three conspicuous places in
the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door of the
City Hall in said City on the 5th day of October. 1955, and
that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City
Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.

affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
on this the 7th day of December, A. D. 1955.
