Ordinance 1279 ORDINANCE NO . 1279 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27.3 OF CHAPTER 27 OF "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, 1950" . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Section 27.3 of Chapter 27 of "The Code of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, 1950", reading as follows : "Seco 27.3. Boxing commission. A commission is hereby created to be known as the boxing commission of the city whose duty it shall be to administer and provide for the enforcement of all the provisions of this article. The commission shall consist of five members to be appointed by the city council, any three of whom shall constitute a quorum. Until August 5th, 1953, the commissioners shall serve during the pleasure of the city council and on and after August 5th, 1953, the commissioners shall be appointed for and shall serve for two-year terms and until their successors are duly appointed and qualified. The commission shall have its office in the city hall and in rooms to be provided by the city for that purpose, and all of its records shall be there kept. The commission shall hold meetings upon such days as may be determined by the commission and may hold special meetings upon the call df the chairman or any three members. It shall keep a complete record of all its meetings, all its acts and all the business it transacts, and may prepare all necessary regulations and blank forms for the conducting of its business. The commission may employ from time to time such clerks and employees as are necessary for the adminis- tration of this chapter and shall pay salaries to such clerks and employees only out of such funds as the commission may procure as hereinafter provided. The commission and each of the members shall take and file the oath of office prescribed by law. The commission shall report to the city council annually the work during the preceding year. The commission shall regulate and supervise and have jurisdiction over all pugilistic, boxing, wrestling or similar public exhibitions in the city. " be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows : "Sec. 27.3, Boxing commission. The terms of office of the members appointed on the 21st day of August, 1957 shall expire on the 30th day of September, 1959 and thereafter members of the commission shall be appointed for terms of two years commencing from the date of the expiration of the term of their predecessors, and shall serve until their successors are duly appointed and qualified. The commission shall have its office in the city hall and in rooms to be provided by the city for that purpose, and all of its records shall be there kept. " SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its passage and posting as required by law. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of November, A.D. 1957.
