Morales, City Manager DATE: September 22, 2017 SUBJECT: BUDGET ADVISORY COMMITTEE MOTION The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of a motion passed by the Budget Advisory Committee. The Committee approved a motion recommending that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the proposed FY 2017/18 millage rate of 5.8888, which is the same as the FY 2016/17 adopted millage rate, by transferring the 0.0132 debt service millage rate reduction to the operating millage rate. The Committee also recommends that any unallocated surplus in FY 2017/18 budget be set aside in a reserve to offset the potential impact of voter referendum regarding an increase to the Homestead exemption. The Committee's recommendation was approved at their September 20, 2017, meeting.
