96-22185 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 96-22185 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE CONTINUATION OF INTERIM FUNDING TO THE LINCOLN ROAD AND WASHINGTON A VENUE MANAGEMENT DISTRICTS FOR THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 1, 1996 TO NOVEMBER 30, 1996. WHEREAS, on September 25, 1996, the Mayor and City Commission directed the Administration to provide interim funding to both the Lincoln Road and Washington A venue Management Districts for the period from October 1, 1996 to October 31, 1996; and WHEREAS, continued interim funding is necessary in order to continue various enhanced services including sanitation, security, landscaping, and marketing until such a time as District elections can be held; and WHEREAS, the City is in the process of formally creating the Districts in accordance with Chapter 170, Florida Statutes, which includes adopting a resolution creating the Districts, calling for a public hearing, and providing individual notification to the affected property owners within the proposed Districts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Administration provide continued interim funding to both the Lincoln Road and Washington A venue Management Districts for the period from November 1, 1996 to November 30,1996. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution, providing for the continuation of interim funding to the Lincoln Road and Washington A venue Managemern: Districts for the period from November 1, 1996 to November 30, 1996. BACKGROUND: On September 25, 1996, the City Commission directed the Administration to provide interim funding to the Lincoln Road and Washington A venue Management Districts for the month of October 1996, and until such a time as the Districts could hold elections and be formally created according to Chapter 170, Florida Statutes. The Administration provided the above mentioned funding and will continue to provide the resources until final ratification of the Districts. The Administration anticipates the Districts to be formally created at the public hearing during the first City Commission meeting of December 1996. ANALYSIS: Funding will be provided according to each Districts fiscal year 1995/1996 budgets prorated for one month.
