2001-24690 Reso RESOLUTION No. 200'1)"12..4.6109:' A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE POLICE CONFISCATION TRUST FUND BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001102, IN THE AMOUNT OF $104,589, TO BE FUNDED FROM THE PROCEEDS OF STATE CONFISCATED FUNDS. WHEREAS, Section 932.705, Florida Statutes, addresses the purpose and procedures to be utilized for the appropriation and expenditures of the Police Confiscation Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Po lice ofthe City of Miami Beach has determined that the need for appropriation and expenditures exist and the appropriation and expenditure of forfeiture funds is in compliance with Section 932.705, Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, such funds are available in the Police Confiscation Trust Fund. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby adopt the First Amendment to the Fiscal Year 01/02 Police Confiscation Trust Fund Budget for the City of Miami Beach, in the amount of$104,589, as reflected in the attached Exhibit "A". To: Subject: ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION Adopt the Resolution. ANALYSIS Florida Statute 932.705 provides for expenditures of forfeiture funds for law enforcement purposes. The Chief of Police ofthe City of Miami Beach has reviewed and identified the need for the appropriation and has established that the expenditures of forfeiture funds is in compliance with Section 932.705, Florida Statutes. These forfeiture funds have been deposited in the Police Confiscation Trust Fund. The City has complied with all statutory procedures involved in the transaction of these funds. The Administration requests authorization to adopt the First Amendment to the operating budget for the Police Confiscation Trust Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2001/02 and to appropriate $104,589 from State Funds to provide for the expenditures listed in Exhibit "A". BRICKELL ANTI-VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROJECT to be implemented in Biscayne Elementary School. The implementation of this program represents a partnership between the University of Miami Medical Center for Child Adolescent Psychiatry, Miami-Dade School Board, Biscayne Elementary and the Miami Beach Police Department. This program is directed toward levels Kindergarten and First Grade. Funding is coming from this Police Department with an equal match from the Rodd D.Brickell Foundation. 6,000 REIMBURSEMENT TO THE GENERAL FUND FOR OVERTIME incurred by officers assigned to the South Money Laundering Task Force during the first quarter of fiscal year 2001102. 50,000 MIAMI BEACH SENIOR HIGHIBEACH PATROL Crime Watch Program: Students are assigned to patrol a class period and they are the eyes and ears for the adult security monitors and the School Resource Officer. 1,500 ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR TRAINING for the Police Department to supplement the Fiscal Year 01102 Budget Training Fund. 12,500 R.A.I,N.
