A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING THE WEEK OF MAY 15, 1997 ,t1,S
"NATIONAL POLICE WEEK," AND PROCLAIMING MA V 8, 1997 AS "POLICE
MEMORIAL DA V"
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America has designated the wee~'
of May 15, 1997, to be dedicated as "National Police Week;" and
WHEREAS, on May 8, 1997, Dade County memorializes their fallen officers with a
"Police Memorial Day;" and
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers are our guardians of life and property,
defenders of the individual right to be free, warriors in the war against crime and
dedicated to the preservation of life and liberty; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to honor the valor, service ar d
dedication of all of the Miami Beach Police Officers who have given their lives in the lin'~
of duty,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the week of May 1 !i,
1997 is recognized as "National Police Week" and that May 8, 1997 is hereby
proclaimed "Police Memorial Day,"
PASSED and ADOPTED the 7th day of
