Subject: HOLIDAY CRIME P ENTION DETAIL
This Letter to the Commission is to advise of the Police Department's proactive holiday
season crime prevention program.
This year, the Police Department has established a special crime prevention detail,
designed specifically to target the city's business areas to insure the safety of our
citizens during this holiday season. Police officers from both the patrol and criminal
investigations divisions have been scheduled to work during peak business hours, in
order to address such crimes that traditionally occur at this time of year such as
robberies, burglaries, thefts, auto thefts, etc. At the present time, the Police Department
reports that there has been minimal criminal activity in the business areas and the
deployment of this special detail should aid in keeping this activity to a minimum and
create a safe shopping environment in our City.
