RESOLUTION NO. 97-22377
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR IDS DESIGNEE, TO
SUBMIT APPLICATIONS FOR THE LINCOLN ROAD TWILIGHT
MUSIC SERIES TO THE METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY
CULTURAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL COMMUNITY GRANTS
PROGRAM, IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,515; METROPOLITAN DADE
COUNTY TOURISM DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $7,504; AND MIAMI BEACH VISITOR AND
CONVENTION AUTHORITY, IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000;
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE GRANTS, IF
AWARDED; AND APPROPRIATING THE AWARDED FUNDS IN
COMPLIANCE WITH THE TERMS OF THE GRANTS.
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority , The Metro I)ad~
Cultural Affairs Community Grants Program, and the Metro Dade Tourism Development Cou nc 1
have grant programs which had previously funded the Twilight Music Series for 1996-97 througl
the Lincoln Road Partnership; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach Special Events Office has contacted these fumlin ~
agencies to recover funding and continue the Series from April through September, 1997; am
WHEREAS, the Series will take place on the fourth Saturday of each month; and
WHEREAS, total cash expenses for the production of the Series will amount to $22, 01~.,
which is to be entirely funded from the aforestated grants and a corporate contribution f~0I1
SunTrust Bank; and
WHEREAS, no cash funds from the City budget will be utilized as a match
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CJI[TY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and (~ily
Commission herein retroactively authorize the City Manager or his designee to submit: an
applications for the Lincoln Road Twilight Music Series to the Metropolitan Dade County CultunJ
Affairs Council Community Grants Program, in the amount of $3,515; Metropolitan Dade County
Tourism Development Council, in the amount of $7,504; and Miami Beach Visitor and
Convention Authority, in the amount of $6,000; authorizing the acceptance of the granw, f
awarded; and appropriating the awarded funds in compliance with the terms of the grants.

ADMINISTRA TION RECOMMENDATION
Approve the resolution.
BACKGROUND
The Twilight Music Series is an important on going event on Lincoln Road. The six montl
Series will run from April through September 1997, on the fourth Saturday of each month. It s
anticipated that the newly formed Lincoln Road Marketing Organization will continue the
production in the 97/98 season.
ANALYSIS
The Twilight Music Series was originally administered by the Lincoln Road PartnershiI.
Following the vote to dissolve the Lincoln Road Partnership, the City of Miami Beach Specirl
Events Office recovered funding which was allocated for this Series from the Miami Beach Vi~it(r
and Convention Authority, Metro Dade Cultudil Affairs and Tourists Programs, as well cs
SunTrust Bank. The Series is entirely funded from these grants and contributions.
Total cash costs for the production of the Twilight Series amount to $22,019 entirely funded f~on
grants and contributions. There will be no cash match from City budgets.

CONCLUSION
The Administration recommends the adoption of the attached resolution retroactively authorizin~
the City Manager, or his designee, to submit an application for the Lincoln Road Twilight M'.Jsi.:
Series to the Metropolitan Dade County Cultural Affairs Council Community Grants Program,
in the amount of $3,515; Metropolitan Dade County Tourism Development Council, in th~
