PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE
IN 2002 SPECIAL OLYMPICS LOCAL GAMES - SOCCER & TENNIS
The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to inform you of the recent success of our Special
Olympics Athletes. Five of our athletes were chosen to compete in the soccer and tennis competition
at the Special Olympics Local Games that were held at Miami-Dade Community College Kendall
Campus, on March 16, 2002.
These five athletes were selected on the basis of their excellent training scores. David Crrossbaum
placed first in soccer, Clarice Geller placed first in tennis, and Martin Halperu, Mercy Sosa and
Robert Trio placed second in tennis. Their hard work and determination enabled them to qualify for
the Local Games and possibly for Florida State Games.
We are proud of our Special Olympics Athletes and look forward to them representing the City of
Miami Be ch at the Special Olympics State Games.
