AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 29 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 - That Chapter 29 of the Code of the City of Miami Beach
be and the same is hereby amended by adding new sec-
tions thereto immediately following Section 29.1, to be numbered
and to read as follows:
"Section 29.2 An Auxiliary Police Force is
hereby created and established. The Chief of Police
shall, under the direction of the City Manager, and
subject to such rules and regulations as shall be
promulgatedby the Chief of Police, and approved by
the City Manager, appoint and exercise general super-
intendence over said Auxiliary Police Force, and shall
be responsible for the good, order and discipline of
the same. Members of the Auxiliary Police Force shall
have such duties and privileges as the Police Chief,
as approved by the City Manager, shall deem appropriate.
Every Auxiliary Police Officer shall wear such uniform,
badge, insignia of office, and carry such arms as the
Chief of Police may, by appropriate rule and regulation,
from time to time prescribe.
"Section 29.3 No person shall be named or designa-
ted as an Auxiliary Police Officer except upon completion
of a satisfactory training course as the Chief of Police,
with the approval of the City Manager, shall prescribe.
Before assuming the duties of office, all members of the
Auxiliary Police Force shall subscribe to the oath pre-
scribed by the provisions of General State Law.
"Section 29.4 The City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to exercise all such administrative powers
as may be required for the purpose of providing appropriate
public liability insurance for the City and for all members
of said Auxiliary Police Force."
SECTION 2 - All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3 - This ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon
passage and posting as required by law.

of the City Hall in said City on the 8th day of June, 1973,
and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter
of the said City of Miami Beach.
