AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 23 OF THE MIAMI
BEACH CITY CHARTER ENTITLED "OATH AND BOND OF OFFICERS;
TERMS OF OFFICE; COMPENSATION" SO AS TO DELETE
THEREFROM ANTIQUATED REFERENCES TO POSTING BONDS FOR
CERTAIN OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, AND SO AS
TO REFERENCE TWO YEAR TERMS FOR THE CITY COMMISSIONERS
AS OPPOSED TO FOUR YEAR TERMS, AND TO DELETE AN
ANTIQUATED REFERENCE TO END OF OFFICE TERMS FOR CITY
OFFICIALS , OTHER THAN COMMISSIONERS AND MAYOR;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA.
SECTION 1.
That Section 23 of the Miami Beach City Charter entitled "Oath
and Bond of Officers; Terms of Office; Compensation" is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 23 . Oath and Bond of Officers; Terms of Office;
Compensation.
All officers of said city shall, before entering upon the
discharge of their duties, take and subscribe an oath before such
person authorized to administer oaths, that they are entitled to
hold the office to which they have been elected and appointed_aa--may--�e---'egtxi-�

All officers elected by the people as provided in this Act,
except those commissioners who may be elected for a €atrr two-year
term as in this Charter provided, shall hold office until the
next ensuing city election or until their successors are duly

The compensation of all city officers shall be fixed by
ordinance.
SECTION 2. REPEALER
All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and
the same are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY
If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, then said holding shall in no way affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after its
adoption, on January 16 , 1988 .
