AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA ,
AMENDING THE CITY CODE CREATING CHAPTER
22 PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF SAFE
NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS WITHIN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA ;
PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY ; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
Whereas, an Act to be known as the "Safe Neighborhoods Acts"
has been created under and by authority of Chapter 87-243, Laws
of Florida.
Whereas, the Act, comprised of Sections 55-73 inclusive of
said Chapter 87-243 provides that the governing body of a
municipality may adopt an ordinance authorizing the formation of
local government neighborhood improvement districts .
Whereas , as provided in Chapter 87-243, Laws of Florida,
Neighborhood Improvement Districts may be established within the
City of Miami Beach, Florida.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: THAT A NEW CHAPTER 22: ARTICLE I OF THE MIAMI
BEACH CITY CODE BE CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
Article I: Safe Neighborhood Improvement District.
Safe Neighborhood Improvement Districts shall be established
within the City of Miami Beach as provided for in Section 59 of
Chapter 87-243, Laws of Florida, relating to local government
improvement districts .
SECTION 2: REPEALER
All ordinances , and parts of ordinances, in conflict herewith
shall be and the same, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY
If any section, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction , then said holding shall in no way affect the

validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4: EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after its
adoption, on April i h , 1988.
