AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1891,
COMMONLY KNOWN AS ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE
DESIGNATED ACCESSORY USES IN F.PARTMENT
HOTELS UNDER ENUMERATED CONDITIONS .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 7-3 (B) of Ordinance No. 1891, being the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new paragraph thereto
immediately following paragraph 5 (a) to be numbered and to read as
follows:
" (b) Any Apartment Hotel having 100 sleeping units
or more for transients shall be considered a Hotel
for purposes of permissible accessory uses as set
forth in Section 7-3 (B) (4) , subject, however, that
such service facilities shall not be out of character
with the general area; that the same shall be used by
residents primarily; and that such service facilities
will pose no problem to neighboring properties.
In addition to the stipulations set forth in
Sections 7-2, Control of Entrance and Exits, and
7-3, Accessory Uses, Apartment Hotels with 100 or
more sleeping units shall comply with the follow-
ing criteria to apply for accessory uses permitted
in Hotels with 100 or more sleeping units :
1. Registration Desk - staffed 24 hours.
2 . Open key and mail compartments for 100
or more designated sleeping units .
3. Central telephone switchboard connecting
in service to 100 or more designated
sleeping units.
4 . One hundred or more designated .sleeping
units shall not have independent electri-
cal or water meters.
Prior to the issuance of permit for such accessory
uses, the applicant shall receive an annual written
certification statement from the Department of Code
Enforcement verifying compliance with the above listed
requirements. "
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall go into effect ten days after
its passage.
