AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 42.10 OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR EMERGENCY
INCREASE IN TAXICAB RATES FROM 12:01 A.M. ,
FEBRUARY 20, 1974 TO MIDNIGHT, MARCH 20, 1974.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That that portion of Section 42.10 of the Code of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, reading as
follows:
" (a) Fifty cents for the first one-sixth of one
mile, and ten cents for each additional one-
sixth of one mile or any part thereof there-
after; provided, that the rates during the
period of the National Democratic Convention,
from July 10, 1972 to July 14, 1972, both
dates inclusive, charges shall be based upon
rates as follows:
Fifty cents for the first one-fifth of
one mile, and ten cents for each additional •
one-fifth of one mile or any part thereof
thereafter.
(b) For each one minute of time or any part
thereof in which any taxicab shall be
stopped and not in motion for any reason
whatsoever, other than on account of the
• inefficiency of such taxicab or the
operation thereof, a charge of ten cents
shall be made. "
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
" (a) Sixty cents for the first one-seventh
of one mile, or fraction thereof, and
twenty cents for each additional two •
sevenths of one mile, or fraction thereof,
thereafter.
(b) For the first forty-five seconds of
time, or any part thereof, in which any
taxicab shall be stopped and not in
motion for any reason whatsoever other
than on account of the inefficiency of
such taxicab or the operation thereof,
a charge of twenty cents shall be made,
and twenty cents for every one and one-
half minutes, or fraction thereof,
thereafter. "
SECTION 2 . All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed_

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall go into effect as of
12: 01 A.M. , February 20, 1974, and shall
expire by its terms as of March 20, 1974 at Midnight.
SECTION 4. This is an Emergency Ordinance and shall go
into effect immediately upon passage and
posting as required by law.

and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least thirty
days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the said
City of Miami Beach.
