RESOLUTION NO. 1557
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, WAIVING OBJECTIONS TO THE
PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN
PORTIONS OF THE PROPOSED CAUSEWAY
ACROSS BISCAYNE BAY, KNOWN AS THE
"79TH STREET CAUSEWAY."
WHEREAS, the United States War Department has previously
granted the following permits for portions of the proposed 79th
Street Causeway construction across Biscayne Bay, namely:
Bridge Permit No. 6371, granted April 30th , 1926;
Dredging, filling and bulkheading, Permit No.
1593 , Jax. files;
Dredging, filling and bulkheading, Permit No.
18511 granted April 30th, 1926.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
That they hereby waive all objections to the following pro-
posed construction, same being part of the aforementioned 79th
Street Causeway project , namely:
Dredging, filling and bulkheading of two islands in Biscayne
Bay by the North Venetian Islands Company, in accordance with three
sketches prepared by Thomas and Roberts and D. E. Rossiter to ac-
company permit application, designated Sheet 1 of 3 , dated March
12th, 1927, Sheet 2 of 3 and Sheet 3 of 3 , each dated March 10th,
1927; and
The construction of two temporary bridges in Biscayne Bay by
the North Venetian Islands Company, in accordance with two sketches
prepared by Thomas and Roberts and D. E. Rossiter to accompany per-
mit application, designated Sheet 1 of 2 and Sheet 2 of 2, dated
March 10th, 1927; and
This waiver is given with the understanding that before the
existing waterway, known as the "Inland Waterway" is closed by the
construction of such islands or fixed bridges, that a channel shall
be provided connecting at both ends with the existing channel and
leading through the drawbridges in the East viaduct near the Eastern
Shore of Biscayne Bay, which channel shall provide the controlling
depth not less than now obtaining in the existing channel.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th da of March, A. D. , 1927.
