Morales, City Manager DATE: November 2, 2017 SUBJECT: CIP Monthly Construction Projecs Update Below please find the monthly update for active City of Miami Beach construction projects under the purview of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects. Allison Park Renovation Scope: Create an ADA park with an accessible route from the play area and beach area to the existing restrooms building. Status: NTP#2 Issued on December 16, 2016. Playground is substantially complete and opened to the public on October 27, 2017. Landscape at south end is being finalized. Altos Del Mar Park Scope: Park Improvements include new landscape, irrigation, site lighting, volleyball courts, walkways, terraced lawn, accessible playground, restroom, and storage facility. Status: Commission approved award to West Construction on October 18, 2017. Contract is currently being executed. Construction is anticipated to commence January 2018. Beach Lifeguard Towers Replacement Scope: Construction of 35 lifeguard towers. Status: Construction began March 2015. Fifteen towers have been completed and placed at their permanent location. Seven more towers are in construction and are scheduled for completion by November 2017. Construction of an additional seven towers is scheduled for completion January 2018 bringing the total to be completed to 29. Biscayne Beach Relocation of Fire Hydrants Scope: Relocation of eight (8) fire hydrants and connection to the existing water main at various locations within Biscayne Beach Neighborhood to gain 13 additional car parking spaces and 4 additional motorcycle/scooter spaces. Status: The construction work commenced on July 31, 2017. Project is 35% complete and scheduled for completion November 2017. Biscayne Point Island Entry Scope: Beautification project of the neighborhood entryway to Biscayne Point Island. Status: Concrete curbs and sidewalks have been completed. Landscaping and guardhouse renovation has commenced. Project is 47% complete overall and scheduled for completion December 2017. Central Bayshore South Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Neighborhood improvements bounded by 34th St. to the north, Pine Tree Dr. to the east, 28 St. to the south and Prairie Ave to the west and Meridian Ave from 28 St. to Dade Blvd. Status: Water main installation is ongoing and 95% complete. Drainage design is currently on hold at 60%, waiting for the City's re-evaluation of the impact of the proposed road elevations on the neighborhood homes and evaluation of the recently approved criteria of a 10 -year storm rain event. Espanola Way Bollards Scope: Installation of protective bollards at each end of Espanola Way (Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue). Status: Commission approved a supplemental work order for construction on October 18, 2017. Construction is anticipated to commence April 2018. Fleet Management Seawall Scope: Complete replacement of approximately 200 feet of seawall to protect upland structures. Status: Construction began late June 2017 as an emergency repair. Anticipated completion date is January 2018. Lower North Bay Road Street Lighting Scope: Installation of decorative street lighting system along Lower North Bay Road. Status: Notice to Proceed was issued October 25, 2017. Anticipated completion March 2018. Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph. 2 - Section 1 (Beachwalk) Scope: Construction of an on -grade pedestrian walkway encompassing eleven (11) City blocks or approximately 134,500 square feet from 53 St to 64 St. Status: Contractor has cleared non-native/invasive landscaping and is commencing with preparation of soils. Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph. 2 — Section 2 Scope: Construction of an on -grade pedestrian walkway from 46 St to 53 St. Status: Commission approved award to JRT Construction on October 18, 2017. Contract is currently being executed. Construction is scheduled to start December 2017/January2018. Project is scheduled for completion October/November 2018. Muss Park Pavilion Scope: Demolition of the existing pavilion and the construction of a new pavilion. The new pavilion will be LEED Gold certified. Status: Construction began February 2017. Project is 90% complete and scheduled for completion November 2017. Muss Park Seawall Scope: Replacement of 323 linear feet of seawall including 67 linear feet of living shoreline. Status: Seawall installation is complete and contractor has begun site restoration activity. Scheduled for completion November 2017. Palm & Hibiscus Island Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Neighborhood improvements on Palm and Hibiscus Islands. Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 65% complete and scheduled for completion June 2018. South Pointe Park Remediation — Water Feature Scope: Construction of 4 new water features, landscaping, and plaza. Status: Project achieved substantial completion in August 2017. Punch list work ongoing, however, pumping systems have been damaged due to flooding and are being repaired. Fountains are expected to be operational November 2017. Stormwater Pump Station at 19 Street Scope: Installation of a stormwater pump station, including an emergency generator and seawall reconstruction along Collins canal. Status: Currently design is at 60%. Seawall construction mobilized October 2017. Anticipated construction of the pump station to begin January 2018. Sunset Islands 3 & 4 Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Sunset Islands 3 & 4 — Neighborhood improvement. Status: Construction began June 2015. Project is 90% complete and scheduled for completion late December 2017. Venetian Islands Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Neighborhood improvements on San Marino, Dilido and Rivo Alto Islands. Status: Construction began May 2013. Project is 85% complete and scheduled for completion January 2018 for San Marino and Dilido and July 2018 for Rivo Alto Islands. West Avenue Phase II Improvements - North of 14 Street Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements north of 14th Street to Lincoln Lane. Status: Notice to Proceed #lwas issued July 31, 2017. Design in progress. 60% Design submittal due November 2017. West Avenue Phase II Improvements - South of 14 Street Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements south of 14th Street to 6th Street.
