BACKGROUND: Pursuant to the provisions of Paragraph 10 of the Settlement Agreement between Yacht Club Southeastern, Inc., Pacific International Construction, Inc., and the City of Miami Beach, the City has agreed to rename or co-name Purdy Avenue and/or Twentieth Street as Sunset Harbour Drive or such other appropriate name. This matter was referred to the Rules and Special Events Committee meeting of July 6, 1993 for consideration and review as required by Ordinance 91-2748. At this meeting the committee agreed unanimously to the co-naming of the streets as Sunset Harbour Drive as long as police, fire, and postal services were not impeded in any way. At the public hearing of september 8, 1993, it was determined that Sunset Harbour Drive or Place should be considered for the co- naming of Purdy Avenue and 20th street. A continuation of that public hearing is scheduled for september 22, 1993. ANALYSIS: The streets to be co-named are from the south and east boundaries of the Sunset Harbour project and Fisher Island Park. This area includes Purdy Avenue from the Venetian Causeway to 20th Street and 20th Street to Alton Road. There are no overlapping street addresses within the area under consideration and emergency and postal services will not be inhibited as a result of the c0-naI~ing of these streets. . CONCLUSION: The resolution to co-name Purdy Avenue and 20th street as Sunset Harbour Drive or Place should be adopted in order to comply with the settlement agreement between Yacht Club Southeastern, Inc., Pacific International Construction, Inc., and the city of Miami Beach.
