RESOLUTION NO. l b 5
WHEREAS, it has come to our attention that there has been a reduction
in the number of teachers allotted to the Miami Beach Public School for the school
year 1927-1928, and
WHEREAS, we believe that such reduction will result in less efficiency
and seriously impair our educational facilities, and
WHEREAS, it has been suggested that Miami Beach School District is not
receiving its just pro rata share of the taxes assessed each year for the operation
of the schools in the district, and
WHEREAS, we believe that it is to the interest of the community that its
citizens be informed as to the true status of the school finances, and that Miami
Beach School District is entitled to receive its full pro rata share of the tax
money paid by its citizens for the operation of the school of said district,
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, and it is hereby RESOLVED, by the City
Council of Miami Beach,Florida, that a communication be sent to the Board of
Education of Dade County, Florida, requesting said Board to compile a statement
setting forth the following information concerning the collection and pro rata
distribution of school taxes, by school districts, during the school year of
1926-1927 and the school year of 1927-1928:
A. The amount of taxes paid in each school district of the
County which were legally subject to be prorated.
B. The amount of each district's pro rata share of said taxes
under the law, and the basis upon which prorated.
C. The amount of taxes expended in each district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to
the Board of Education of Dade County and that they be spread upon the minutes
by the Clerk.
