Ordinance 75-2038 ORDINANCE NO. 75-2038
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, BY ADDING A
NEW PROVISION THERETO REQUIRING ANNUAL FIRE EXIT
DRILLS FOR MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLINGS OF FOUR
STORIES OR MORE, AND AUTHORIZING CREATION OF AN
AUXILIARY WARDEN FORCE .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 : That Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, be and the same is hereby amended by adding a
new section to Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, numbered and reading as follows :
"Section 14-74 . 2
Annual fire exit drills shall be conducted in
all multiple family dwellings of four (4) stories
or more. Said fire exit drills shall be conducted
under the direction of the Fire Chief, or his duly
authorized deputy. ,The Fire Chief is authorized
to promulgate any and all regulations in order to make
said fire exit drills most effective for their
intended purpose in the buildings subject to this
requirement. The purpose of said fire exit drills
shall be to familiarize the occupants with necessary
procedures for the orderly evacuation of all occupants
of said buildings . Fire alarm facilities shall be
regularly used in the conduct of fire exit drills .
It shall be the duty of the owner or the agent of
such owner of any building subject to the requirements
hereof to comply with the order and direction of the
Fire Chief, or his duly authorized deputy, for the
conduct of such fire exit drills. The Fire Chief is
authorized to appoint and designate civilian fire
wardens to aid and assist in the conduct of the fire
drills required hereby, subject to the direction and
control of the Fire Chief, or his duly authorized
personnel . No person shall be appointed or designated
a civilian fire warden until after he has satisfactor-
ily completed necessary training procedures duly
established and promulgated by the Fire Chief. "
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3 : This ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon
its passage and publication as 'required by law.

days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the said
City of Miami Beach.
