SUBJECT: 2017 City Holiday Lighting Plan
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to provide the Mayor and City
Commission with the final holiday lighting plan for this season.
In February 2017, the City released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for vendors to design,
furnish, install, maintain, remove and store holiday lighting and decorations. The
proposals were evaluated by an appointed Evaluation Committee. During a two (2)
phase process the Committee reviewed qualifications, ranked the final proposers, and
made recommendations to the Administration. On July 26, 2017, Resolution 2017-
29956 was adopted and authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an agreement
with Artistic Holiday Designs.
Artistic Holiday Designs has begun installing the holiday lighting and decoration
throughout the City and is scheduled to go live on Monday, November 27, 2017. This
first phase of this three year contract funded in FY 2017-2018 in the amount of
$395,000, comprises twenty (20) sites, including the Julia Tuttle Welcome Sign
entrance, City Hall, Espanola Way corridors, Police Headquarters, Lincoln Road, Ocean
Drive and the 87th Street Sign, as well as other points throughout the city.
The final design renderings are attached for your review. The removal phase for the
decor and lighting will commence on January 4, 2018 and will be completed by January
15, 2018. In years two and three of this contract, Artistic Holiday Design will further
enhance and expand holiday lighting to other areas throughout the City as funding
becomes available in future years. This program will ensure the City meet key intended
outcomes to enhance and beautify urban and residential neighborhoods, our historic
assets, select neighborhoods and redevelopment areas.
