AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION
31-3 OF THE CODE OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
PERTAINING TO THE BOXING COMMISSION AND ITS
OFFICES ; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY ; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH ; AND PRO-
VIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 .
That Section 31-3 of the Miami Beach City Code is hereby amended to
read :
Sec . 31-3 . Boxing Commission.
A commission is hereby created , to be known as the boxing com-
mission of the city, whose duty it shall be to administer and provide
for the enforcement of all provisions of this article . The Commission
shall consist of five members , to be appointed by the city eetifte4I
commission, any three of whom shall constitute a quorum. The Attdlte-
fttm and Convention Hall Center director and-manager shall be a
member of such commission, but shall not be entitled to vote , nor
shall his presence be counted for the purpose of a quorum. 8a #I

Members of the commission shall be appointed for terms of two years
commencing from the date of the expiration of the term of their pre-
decessors , and shall serve until their successors are duly appointed

for the boxing commission. The commission shall hold meetings upon
such days as may be determined by the commission and may .hold special
meetings upon the call of the chairman or any three members . It shall
keep a complete record of all its meetings , all its acts and all the
business it transacts , and may prepare all necessary regulations and
blank forms for the conducting of its business .
The commission may employ, from time to time , such clerks and
employees as are necessary for the administration of this chapter , and
shall pay salaries to such clerks and employees only out of such funds
as the commission may procure as provided in this article . The com-
mission and each of the members shall take and file the oath of office
prescribed by law.
The commission shall report to the city eettne}I commission an-
nually the work during the preceding year .
The commission shall regulate and supervise and have jurisdiction
over all pugilistic , boxing or similar public exhibitions , contests or

SECTION 2 . SEVERABILITY .
If any section, sub-section, sentence , clause , phrase or other
portion of this ordinance is , for any reason, held invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction , such
portion shall be deemed as a separate , distinct , and independent

provision , and such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3 . REPEALER.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be
and the same are repealed .
SECTION 4 . EFFECTIVE DATE.
This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after adoption in
accordance with law on May 12th , 1984 .
