Parkins City Manager PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO UNCLASSIFIED SALARY ORDINANCE NO. 1605 DATE: CITY HALL 1700 CONVENTION CENTER DRIVE TELEPHONE: 673-7010 May 5, 1982 Attached, for your approval and adoption, is an amendment to Unclassified Salary Ordinance No. 1605 which provides for a restructuring of all classifications covered in this ordinance, excluding the City Manager and City Attorney. The pay plan will now provide an organized structure for the various position levels which we have not had in the past. Positions have been placed in appropriate clusters based on the position's requirements in terms of supervision, technical skills and degree of responsibility. This will allow for a greater degree of accountability than has been possible in the past. This restructuring is the result of a survey of comparable political entities, as well as an examination of the position relationships within the City. There are presently 127 staff members in the Unclassified Service. The last amendment to this ordinance was a seven and one-half percent (7%2%) across the board increase effective December 29, 1980. Funds for any and all salary adjustments due to this amendment are available in the salary accounts of the various departments. The effective date requested is December 28, 1981, the beginning of the nearest pay period to January 1, 1982. SOURCE OF FUNDS: Various salary accounts in the 1981-82 adopted budget. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption by the City Commission.
