SUBJECT: ART WEEK 2017 MOBILITY IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to report on the City's efforts in providing mobility
options during Art Week 2017 from December 6, 2017 through December 10, 2017.
The City of Miami Beach is providing free shuttle service across the Venetian Causeway,
providing direct connectivity between the Miami Beach Convention Center and three (3) park-
and-ride facilities in the City of Miami, including a stop at art fairs in Omni. Please see the
attached "Art Week '17 Free Shuttle" map for the locations of the park-and-ride facilities that
have been established along this route. Clearly branded shuttle stops will be provided adjacent
to all park-and-ride facilities. The Venetian shuttle route will operate from Wednesday,
December 6 — Sunday, December 10 from 11:00 a.m. — 10:00 p.m. (Wednesday -Saturday) and
from 11:00 a.m. — 8:00 p.m. on Sunday with approximately 15 minute frequency of service.
Prospective riders will be able to track shuttle vehicles in real-time using the City's Trolley
Tracker mobile application.
In addition to the free Venetian Shuttle service, the City of Miami Beach Trolley service will
continue to operate its normal route and schedule, providing art patrons with a free, convenient,
and reliable connection to the Miami Beach Convention Center as well as to art fairs located
throughout the City. Water Taxi service at Purdy Avenue Dock and the Miami Beach Marina will
also be available to provide a connection between Miami Beach and Miami with stops at Omni
and Bayside/Bayfront Park in Miami. The water taxi service is subject to fares.
Lastly, the City has provided its employees with commuting options, including telecommuting
and using Lyft, focused on reducing vehicular trips and improving parking availability within the
City Center area.
The Transportation Department has been working closely with the Department of Marketing and
Communications to promote the Art Week '17 Transportation Plan on the City's website and
other available media and provide park-and-ride and shuttle information to Art Basel and art
fairs for dissemination to patrons.
