A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND ADOPTING A
NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN FOR ESPANOLA WAY, ENTITLED
"ESPANOLA WAY: RENAISSANCE OF THE SPANISH VILLAGE,"
AND DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO PROCEED WITH
IMPLEMENTATION RECOMMENDATIONS SET FORTH IN SAID
PLAN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
WHEREAS, Espanola Way, from the time it was developed in the 1920's, was
conceived of as a special district, distinguished by its architecture, scale, and street
configuration from neighborhood thoroughfares; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the unique character of Espanola Way and its
potential as a key element in the revitalization of southern Miami Beach, the Planning
Department has prepared a neighborhood plan for Espanola Way, entitled, "Espanola Way:
Renaissance of the Spanish Village;" and
WHEREAS, said plan includes an implementation program comprised of
recommended public improvements, private property improvements, zoning controls, and
development impact assessments; and
WHEREAS, said plan has been unanimously approved by the Miami Beach
Historic Preservation Board, Design Review Board, Community Development Advisory
Committee, Miami Design Preservation League, and Espanola Way Improvement
Association; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Planning Board held a public hearing on
September 26, 1985, and unanimously recommended that the City Commission adopt the
Espanola Way Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
1. The Espanola Way Plan, entitled, "Espanola Way: Renaissance of the
Spanish Village," is hereby approved and adopted.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:
1. The Administration is hereby directed to proceed with implementation
recommendations set forth in Chapter VII of said Espanola Way Plan.
