AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING
MIAMI BEACH CITY CODE SECTION 2-1 ENTITLED
"COMMISSION -- TIME OF MEETINGS" BY DELETING
9 : 30 A.M. AS THE STARTING TIME FOR REGULAR
MEETINGS OF THE CITY COMMISSION AND PROVIDING
THAT MEETING TIMES SHALL BE ESTABLISHED BY
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR REPEALER; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1.
Miami Beach City Code Section 2-1 entitled "Commission -- Time
of Meetings" is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2-1. "Commission -- Time of Regular
Meetings. "
All regular meetings of the City Commission
will be held at 0 : 30 a.m. on the first and
third Wednesdays of each and every month, with
Commission meeting times to be established by
Resolution; provided, however, that the City
Commission may from time to time cancel and/or
change the dates and starting times of the
meetings as it deems advisable and proper.
SECTION 2 . REPEALER
All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY
If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance
is held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, then said holding shall in no way affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after its
adoption, on June 25 , 1994.

SUBJECT: CITY COMMISSION -- TIME OF MEETINGS
At the initial request of Commissioner Susan Gottlieb,
the Miami Beach City Commission agreed in concept to commence the
regular City Commission meetings one half hour earlier than is
present practice. Section 2-1 of the Miami Beach City Code (which
currently establishes 9 : 30 a.m. as the meeting starting time) is
thus being amended to delete a time certain and to _provide for
meeting times to be established by Resolution.
The attached legislation is ready for City Commission
review.
