SUBJECT: PLAYGROUND SHADE CANOPI
The purpose of this LTC is to update the City Commission on the status of replacing playground
shade canopies. Due to the impacts of Hurricane Irma, many shade canopies in our City's
playgrounds were damaged and require complete replacement. The order was submitted in
October; however, materials have been on backorder since the demand for these items
significantly increased, both within the US and the Islands, as a result of destruction caused by
Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
The Parks and Recreation Department has been in close contact with the vendor. As of last week,
the vendor anticipates receiving a shipment in Tate December and completing installation at all
affected playground structures by February 2018.
