Carlt City Manager PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CLASSIFIED SALARY ORDINANCE NO. 789 SUBJECT: ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission adopt this Ordinance on second reading amending the Classified Salary Ordinance No. 789 to establish the classification of Diesel Generator Mechanic. BACKGROUND: The first reading of this Ordinance took place on October 19, 1994. The Public Works Director requested the establishment of the classification of Diesel Generator Mechanic. The job specification for this classification was presented to and approved by the Personnel Board on January 21, 1994. ANALYSIS: Establishing the classification of Diesel Generator Mechanic would provide for an appropriate title and salary range for the position responsible for supervising and performing the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer electrical generator equipment, control equipment, and related facilities. This position requires specialized knowledge relative to the care of diesel-powered generator sets. At the request of Commissioner Pearlson, the Administration has contacted surrounding municipalities, i.e. North Bay Village, Bay Harbor Island, Bal Harbor and Surfside. Two of the cities, North Bay Village and Bay Harbor Islands expressed an interest in a contractual agreement with the City of Miami Beach for the services of a Diesel Generator Mechanic. The Administration will develop these agreements in the near future. CONCLUSION: It is recommended that this amendment to Ordinance No. 789 be adopted. 57 RMC:TCA:AJG:ae AGENDA ITEM DATE 1 —2 -9 4 v▪ 013 LH •H H •H .0 0 ul En En 1J En •H c0 N a HI I HI ,.0 a) U CO 0 +J aJ a) D• C7 a z 4-) • yCx7 Cn U aJ H ^ Cq 04 Z O •rrii 4 O H Z b 0 • P4 CU A O • O U 0 • Cd• + +-) • • c0 ro • •H r-1 U • ro m •H .
