Resolution 2407 r RESOLUTION NO. 2407 WHEREAS, the President of the United States, upon the recommendation of the Governing Board of the Pan-American Union, has proolaimed April 14th as Pan-American Day, and suggested that the day be observed with appropriate ceremonies giving expres- sion to that feeling of friendliness, cordiality and cooperation which this Government and this peo- ple have toward the governments and peoples of oth- er countries upon this hemisphere, and, WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the iCity of Miami Beach, feeling that this area, being at the cross-roads of international travel, is the location at which the feeling and sentiment repre- sented by this occasion should be most appropriate- ly observed, and being at what is without doubt the most convenient and. natural meeting place for the peoples of the Western Hemisphere, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, that we do hereby declare and proclaim April 14th as Pan-American Day in the City of Miami Beach; that the flag of our Country be raised on the pub- lic and private buildings on that day; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby re- commend that in our schools, observance be made of the day with appropriate ceremonies to the end that our youth may acquire the spirit of friendliness and cooperation by and with our southern neighbors and be made to more fully realize the opportuni- ties, economic and cultural, connected therewith, and that we cooperate in all possible ways in the public ceremonies to be held in observance of this day, especially that to be held in Bayfront Park on said day, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami, with offers of our fullest coopera- tion.
