Resolution 2478 • RESOLUTION NO. 2478 WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida that quite an epidemic of Infantile Paralysis exists at present particularly among the children, in some of the north- ern and eastern states, and, WHEREAS, many of our local school children are just now returning from summer visits in said affected districts, and, WHEREAS, we are informed that it has been deemed advisable by the Dade County School Commissioners and our local School Trustees to establish a rule prohibiting any child from entering our Public Schools until they have been present in the State of Florida for a period of two weeks, and, WHEREAS, we have observed that the children returning from outside of our state, while not attending school, are nevertheless mingling elsewhere with other children through- out the city, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the said City Council of the City of Miami Beach that we urgently recommend to the Dade County School Commissioners and to the School Trustees of Special School District #14 that they take the further precaution, against the possible spread of this dreaded epidemic, of requiring all school children returning to the City from outside the State of Florida to report daily to the City or School Health authorities for health examination during the two week period following their return.
