A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Council
of Miami Beach • • : • : • . . . + . D. . - County
lying East of Biscayne Bay, by virtue of its area, as-
sessed valuation, taxes paid, population, general in-
fluence in the community, and peculiar problems in-
volved should be made a County Commissioner's District
of Dade County, and
WHEREAS, at the 1931 session the Legislature of
the State of Florida attempted to create said territory
into such district, which attempt was declared invalid
by the Supreme Court of the State of Florida, and
WHEREAS at the next session of the Legislature,
the same question will probably arise again,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
that all candidates now running for the Senate, the
House of Representatives and Board of County Commis-
sioners of Dade County, be requested to commit them-
selves as to whether or not, if elected, they will use
their best efforts to the end that Dade County may be
redistricted so as to make that territory in Dade
County East of Biscayne Bay, a separate district.
