Resolution 2952 i 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2952 WHEREAS, it has been the policy of the City in the past, in order to encourage building and thereby stimulate the value of vacant property, to assess improvements on a lower basis of value than land, and, WHEREAS, protests have been filed through the Dade County Tax Adjustment Bureau, Inc. , by John B. Reid, President, on behalf of the owners of approximately 232 parcels of property against a continua. tion of this policy, and WHEREAS, these protesting owners, acting through the Dade County Tax Adjustment Bureau, Inc. , threaten resort to the courts to test the validity of the 1934 tax roll unless buildings and land are as- sessed on the same basis of value, and, WHEREAS, such an attack if successful would result in financial impoverishment of the City and stagnation of property values, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, sitting as a Board of Equalization, that valuations shown on the 1934 rolls be equalized by adding to the assessed valua. tions of buildings as shown on the City Tax Assessor' s 1934 roll an amount on each building equal to 40% of the valuation so shown and by deducting from the valuation of land as shown on said roll an amount equal to 200 of the valuation so shown, except with respect to the assessment on the following property: LOT BLOCK SUBDIVISION LOT BLOCK SUBDIVISION 1 to 6, incl. 39 Commercial 1 to 9, incl. 45 Commercial 1 to 6, " 38 " 12 to 18, " 46 " 1 to 6, " 37 " 1 to 10, " 40 1st Addition 1 36 Golf Course 14to20, " 39 to Commercia 5, 30' strip east of Lot 10 to 16, " 18 " " 1, Block 35, and strip 10 to 17, " 26 Ocean Beach fronting on North side 9 to 16, " 27 Addition #2 Lincoln Road from Block 9 to 16, " 28 " " " 35 to Washington Avenue 8 to 14, " 29 " " " 1 to 6, incl. 31 Fisher' s 1st Sub, 1 to 11, " 3 Miami Beach division of Alton Improvement Co.' BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that valuations of personal property be increased by adding to each item an assessment equal to forty per cent. ( 40%) of the valuation shown on said roll. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the time for hearing complaints and receiving testimony from owners or agents of any real estate or personal property, as fixed for the year 1934, be and the same is hereby extended to and including September 17th, 1934. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be authorized and in- structed to give notice of a public hearing in connection with said changes in valuation according to law.
