WHEREAS, one of our pioneer Life Guard Officers , John
Alvha Sands, has been taken suddenly by death during the per-
y
formance of duty, and
WHEREAS, Life Guard Sands has faithfully served in this
capacity for approximately eight years, during which entire
period he has been respected and admired by everyone coming in

contact with him, and
WHEREAS, his superior officer has nothing but praise for
his faithful service and splendid record,
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, on behalf of the Mayor, the members
of said Council , the City of Miami Beach and its citizens that
we heartily commend the clean record and loyal service of John
Alvha Sands and we deeply deplore the death of this faithful
guardian and public servant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we do hereby extend our heart-
felt sympathy to his bereaved family.
