A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING THE
SPECIAL EVENT FEES, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF
$30,560.65, FOR THE MIAMI BEACH GAY PRIDE EVENT TO
BE HELD APRIL 2 -8, 2018.
WHEREAS, the Gay Business Development Ad Hoc Committee (now the LGBTQ
Advisory Committee) was created in 2008, with its first initiative being the creation of the event
known as "Miami Beach Gay Pride "; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Gay Pride, Inc. is a Florida not - for - profit corporation that
produces free, safe, quality mass- appeal events that are open to all, and that include the Gay
Pride Parade, Festival, Expo, and other adjunct, officially- sanctioned Miami Beach Gay Pride
events; and
WHEREAS, in 2018, Miami Beach Gay Pride will be an extraordinary week -long event
which will be held April 2nd through April 8th; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Gay Pride has produced nine (9) successful years of events
that have consistently attracted significant numbers of attendees to Miami Beach, and 2018 will
be the 10th Anniversary of the event; and
WHEREAS, for the past several years, the City Commission has waived all of the
special event fees for the Miami Beach Gay Pride event; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends, and the Mayor and City Commission
approve, the waiver of special event fees, in the total amount of $30,560.65, for the 2018 Miami
Beach Gay Pride event, which represents $250.00 in application fees, $500.00 in permit fees,
$4,550.00 in vehicle beach access passes, $10,840.00 in square footage fees, $8,577.25 in
Lummus Park user fees, and $5,843.40 in police administrative fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby waive the special event fees, in the total amount of $30,560.65, for the
Miami Beach Gay Pride event to be held April 2 -8, 2018.
