Morales, City Manager DATE: February 9, 2018 City Cor�oission SUBJECT: Building Department Achieves ISO k0l Quality Management Certification I am delighted to announce that the Miami Beach Building Department is ISO 9001 certified! The Building Department is officially the first department in the City of Miami Beach to obtain this global certification after months of hard work and an external audit. ISO 9001: 2015 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. The standards help guide more than one million companies and organizations in more than 170 countries to ensure quality is built into their management systems. These quality standards include a strong focus on meeting the expectations of customers, fact -based decision-making, continual improvement, involved leadership, hiring and retaining engaged and mission driven staff, firm documentation, and providing high quality services through a process -centered approach. This achievement should give our employees pride and customers assurance. ISO 9001 is not just a one-time certification; it is also a system with structure that builds a culture and practice of quality, customer service and improvement. As part of the certification, future routine audits will support its integrity.
