UPDATE

The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide an update to the Mayor and City
Commission on Invitation to Bid (ITB) No. 2018 -072 -ZD forthe construction and installation
of a floating dock at the Maurice Gibb Park.
The ITB was issued on December 22, 2017. During the period for bidders to submit
questions, several questions were received relative to the final design of the docks.
Originally, the Public Works department had intended to receive bids with limited and not
fully approved construction documents in order to expedite the project. However, that no
longer appears to be a viable option as it has become apparent that the bidders lack clarity
as to what is required from the construction documents that have been provided.
Additionally, the environmental permits required from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers
have not been received; and, staff is uncertain as to when these will be received.
Given the time needed to fully develop the construction documents and uncertainty on
approval from the Army Corps of Engineers, the Public Works staff is recommending
withdrawing this project at this time and re -issuing once final design of the floating dock
and all required permits for construction have been received.
