Resolution 73-14081 RESOLUTION NO. 73-14081
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a Special Ad Hoc
Theatre of the Performing Arts Advisory Committee be
and the same is hereby created. Said Committee shall
consist of 26 members to be appointed; to have the
qualifications and the rights, duties and responsibil-
ities as hereinafter delineated.
Membership of said Committee shall be com-
prised of 26 members, each Councilman to appoint 3
members, and 1 member to be appointed by each of the
following organizations or lessees of the Miami Beach
Auditorium: Miami Beach Symphony Orchestra, The Opera
Guild of Greater Miami, Miami Beach Cultural Society,
Community Concert Association of Miami Beach, and
Miami Beach Music and Arts League. All members shall
hold office at the will of the Council. All members
of the Committee shall be persons who possess a demon-
strable background of interest in the Fine Arts and who
possess a record of active participation in cultural
projects designed and intended to foster, encourage,
and enhance the cultural life of the City and its resi-
dents. Members of the Committee shall be residents of
Miami Beach or those who have a substantial business
interest in Miami Beach. The members of the Committee
shall elect a Chairman and Vice-Chairman. The Committee
shall be charged with the sole and exclusive duty and
responsibility of conferring with and aiding and advising
the Architects retained by the City for planning a Theatre
of the Performing Arts . The duties and responsibilities
of the Committee shall be purely advisory and recommenda-
tory. The Committee shall further have the duty and
responsibility of making such suggestions to the City
Manager and the proper administrative officials of the
City as are designed to achieve the objective of the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, to have a
Theatre of the Performing Arts that will be unrivaled and
unsurpassed in the Nation in its construction, facilities,
attributes and appurtenances.
The Committee shall meet and organize at the
earliest possible time immediately following its formula-
tion. Its meetings shall be held at such times and places
as shall be fixed and determined by it. The City Manager
is hereby directed and authorized to furnish, supply and
make available to the Committee suitable and proper accom-
modations for the transaction of the business of said
Committee. The Committee shall submit to the City Council
and to the City Manager interim reports as to the performance
of its duties and responsibilities as hereinabove delineated.
