A RESOLUTION OF RESPECT, AFFECTION, AND
COMMENDATION FOR DR. R. WILEY SCOTT,
PASTOR OF MIAMI BEACH COMMUNITY CHURCH.
The City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
being this day assembled, duly adopted this measure as being
fitting and proper :
RESOLVED, that this City Council has heard with pro-
found and heartfelt regret of the retirement of the REVEREND
DR. R . WILEY SCOTT from the Pastorate of the Miami Beach Com-
munity Church after a Third of a Century of tireless toil for
the good of his Church andthe improvement of his Community,
His name and fame are a lambent part of this City ' s
history andwe desire to express our measureless affection,
admiration, and respect for DR. R . WILEY SCOTT as a spiritual
andcivic leader without peer,
His commanding presence and genial personality will
be missed from among us, but the inspiration of his sterling
character, his wise counsel, the example of his great courage,
and the firmness of his convictions will always be with us .
As was said of Elijah the Prophet, so may it be said
of DR. SCOTT:
"Thou art a man of God, and
the word of the Lord in
thy mouth is truth. "
He richly merits and receives in abundance the esteem and affec-
tion of all his fellow citizens . His unfaltering heart and
courage have always been and will continue to be with the people
of this City.
RESOLVED, further, that this our testimonial of respect
and appreciation be spread upon the minutes of this Council and
that the City Clerk deliver to the said DR. R . WILEY SCOTT a
suitable and properly engrossed and ensealed copy of this resolu-
tion .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 8th day of August 1973.
