SUBJECT: State of Florida Fire Code REquirements for Historically Designated and
Contributing Properties
On February 13, 2018, the Historic Preservation Board discussed the State of Florida Fire Code
as it relates to historically designated and contributing properties. At the end of this discussion,
the Board passed a motion (7 to 0) urging the Mayor and City Commission, as well as the State
Legislature, to support a modification of the State's Fire Code to include a special exception from
certain regulations contained within the Fire Code for historically designated and contributing
properties in order to preserve historically significant architectural features.
