Resolution 73-14121 RESOLUTION NO. 73-11+121
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade Community College is conducting
courses of instruction in the field of criminal justice, and
WHEREAS, said College is desirous of obtaining
competent instructional personnel to teach specialized courses
of instruction in criminal justice, and desires to engage City
of Miami Beach Police personnel to provide appropriate instruc-
tional personnel, at times and on scheduleswhich will not
interfere with the performance of the duties of such personnel
for the City of Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS, making such personnel available to said
College is of mutual advantage and assistance, and
WHEREAS , said College has agreed to compensate the
City of Miami Beach for the services of such instructional
personnel on the basis of $7 .50 per hour for each instructional
hour furnished by on-duty Miami Beach Police personnel with the
understanding and provision that City of Miami Beach Police
Department personnel who are employed during off-duty hours
will contract with said College individually for compensation,
and
WHEREAS, an appropriate agreement has been prepared
setting forth the terms and conditions upon which the City of
Miami Beach will supply such instructional personnel, and
WHEREAS , said agreement has been approved as to form
by the City Attorney and as to substance by the City Manager,
and the Police Chief, and
WHEREAS, the City Council is fully advised in the
premises and deems it to be in the best interests of the City
and its residents,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the Acting
City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the said
agreement in the name of and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach.
